
This American Life is my favorite radio program on Chicago public radio (WBEZ). It’s success has spawned a television show (Showtime) in the same format — a theme to each episode and a variety of stories on that theme.
The Newberry Library in Chicago is not just a research institution. They have a thriving series
of adult education seminars, certainly on par with quality college courses. I particularly like
the writing and poetry workshops taught by Brooke Bergan.
Frontrunner/Frontwalkers Chicago is a running club for Chicago’s LGBT community. We meet
at the totem pole at Addison in Lincoln Park. Frontrunners is associated with Proud to Run,
a 10K, 5K and 2 mile fun walk that takes place on Gay Pride weekend every June.
